AHS will celebrate Homecoming Week September 27 through October 2. Our theme is Lights! Camera! Action! Highlights of the week include hall decorations, dress up days, afternoon activities, and the annual food drive for the Athens Food Pantry. A new addition to our week will be Powderpuff Football on Wednesday, September 29 at 7:00 pm at the Sports Complex. The Warrior Football team will face off against Auburn on Friday, October 1 at 7:00 pm. The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 2 in the new gym at AHS.
Each month, the faculty of Athens High School selects two students per grade level as Spotlight Students. Teachers nominate students for the award for demonstrating leadership, a positive attitude, school spirit, excellence in the classroom, or exceptional contributions to a student club or team. The 2021-2022 school year will see four new staff members at Athens High School. Hannah Meece will be teaching Early Civilization, US History and Psychology. Josh Krumweide will teach Health and Physical Education. In addition, Mr. Krumweide will be the Head Boys Basketball Coach. Logan Larson will be teaching Physical Education. Mr. Larson will also be an Assistant Coach for Football. Tony Ziemba will teach Physical Science. Mr. Ziemba will also be an Assistant Coach for Boys Basketball. We want to welcome each of these new staff members to AHS. We wish them a great first year here and many great years ahead!
